Let me show you a few alternative options available for ones retirement savings.  I will show you three ways that income is generated as you are probably only use to making money through Linear Income, which is method one.  It is trading time for money (your job).  Work 40 hours get paid for 40 hours, not even, as some employers will not even give you a paid lunch.  Work 40 hours for 40 years and retire on 40 percent of your income. That is what is called Linear Income. I am not knocking Linear Income but that is not the plan that wealthy people use. Linear Income is limited to the number of hours worked and only provides an income when you work. In other words, when you stop work, it stops.

The next two methods you can do while still working your job and both methods can lead you to true wealth or a comfortable retirement.

Passive Income is a recurring income stream that requires very little (if any) of your time.  Examples of passive income may include a real estate investment where you earn monthly rent, a stock that pays dividends, or a royalty payment you may receive.  If you are reading this article it must mean that you are looking for alternative ways to make an income. Here are some tips for passive income, set up a website that sells educational materials, products or services or even resell marketing sites.  That will generate a passive income.  Many governments classify it different from your normal work income for tax reporting purposes so is to your advantage.

Residual Income is the last of the three methods of making an income.

Residual Income is doing something once and getting paid over and over again.  It is royalty money, like Michael Jackson or Elvis Prestley both are dead but their estates have made more money from being dead than when they were alive.  A great form of residual income for people is the industry of network marketing. You build a team and an organization and you get residual cheques from the work the organization does month after month, year after year.  Residual Income is not about “get rich quick” – the principal is very much misunderstood by many people. It requires effort, determination, especially in the beginning… and some time for the magic to start working.
